Advance Course - FOREST FIRES IN THE PERSPECTIVE OF GLOBAL CHANGE- FUME project

Zaragoza (Spain), 13-17 February 2012

http://www.iamz.ciheam.org/ingles/cursos11-12/incfor1-12-pub-eng.htm

The aim of this course is to offer updated knowledge on the interactions between climate change and other relevant factors for forest fires, on fire risk and fire regimes in general, and their consequences on ecosystems and some of the goods and services they provide. Changes in fire risk and fire regimes will be analysed through the study of the recent past, focusing on the Mediterranean Basin, and through projections of future climate and other relevant drivers of fire. This includes using global and regional projections of future climate conditions, together with models for projecting socio-economic changes. Particular emphasis will be placed on the impacts of climate and weather extremes (e.g. droughts and heat waves) that could have ai most relevant impact on fires.
